COMMUNITY LED MONITORING

CLM Task team members & Steak Holders workshop – Karachi

Community-led monitoring (CLM) is a participatory approach that includes representatives of key population along with other key stakeholders in monitoring the coverage, quality, accessibility and availability of HIV services. It is an essential tool for ensuring accountability and improving the quality of HIV services by placing key population at the center of decision-making processes. CLM empowers communities to take an active role in monitoring the quality of HIV services and ensures that their voices are heard. The approach aims to improve access to quality HIV services and to ensure that services are delivered in a way that is acceptable, friendly and responsive to the needs of key population. CLM also helps to build trust between key population and healthcare providers by creating a dialogue between them. Community-led monitoring provides an opportunity for members of the key population to hold service providers accountable for the services they provide and to advocate for improvements in service delivery. CLM is an essential tool for improving the quality of HIV services and ensuring that services are accessible to all members of the community and it’s use has gained significant traction in recent years. The approach has been adopted by many countries as part of their national HIV programs. CLM has also been embraced by international organizations such as the Global Fund, UNAIDS and PEPFAR as an essential tool for improving the quality of HIV services. This commitment is reflected by the Global Fund in investments in technical support and the implementation of CLM in many countries
